FFHA Messages for members 3/2025 published

Dear member,

The latest message for members has been published. As mentioned previously, a separate message about the publication of the member newsletter will not be sent to the membership by email. The publication will be announced on our homepage blog, event calendar, discussion forum and Facebook.

Summer time at FFHA

The association's activities will continue throughout the summer as usual. The Executive Manager is on vacation from July 14 to August 13, 2025. During that time the phone number +358 45 850 8485 is not in use.

FFHA Spring Meeting in Helsinki on May 7, 2025

FFHA's spring meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. in the
auditorium of
Pohjoismainen yhtenäiskoulu (Louhentie 3, Käpylä) in Helsinki. There are some parking space available in the school yard. 

The meeting can be attended only in person. A separate invitation will be sent before the meeting.

FFHA and Suku 2025 event in Turku on March 15-16, 2025

The national genealogical event Suku 2025 will be held on Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16 March 2025 in Turku (ICT-City, Joukahaisenkatu 3, Turku). The weekend is organized by the Genealogical Society of Finland in co-operation with the local genealogical association Turun Seudun Sukututkijat ry / Åbonejdens Släktforskare rf. The language of the event is Finnish.

FFHA is participating in the event with its own program and booth. Our program is on Saturday and includes, in addition to the members' meeting, presentations on the use of moving records in text recognition, the material on town of Turku on the member pages and the archives of district doctors.

Our booth is open in the exhibition space on Saturday 9 am-4 pm and Sunday 10 am-3:30 pm. There you can get acquainted with our activities.

The membership invoices for the current year will be sent in stages by within the following days starting February, 17. Inquiries related to invoices are requested to be sent to our treasurer Eija Liitiäinen (rahastonhoitaja(at)sukuhistoria.fi). Please check your spam folder before contacting us.

In other cases related to membership and payment matters, e.g. problems logging in to the image database we advice to contact our treasurer.

Christmas and New Year in FFHA

During Christmas and New Year, the association's activities will continue as usual. Our Executive Manager is on vacation from December 20, 2024 to January 12, 2025, during which the phone number +358 45 850 8485 is not in use.

FFHA's autumn meeting in Helsinki on November 27, 2024

FFHA's regular autumn meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 6.30 pm in Helsinki, at Yhtenäiskoulu (Louhentie 3, Käpylä/Kottby). There are some parking spaces available in the school yard.

Kuulutko sukuuni in Vantaa in October

A genealogical event Kuulutko sukuuni will be in Vantaa on 12th and 13th of October. You are welcome to participate to our association’s program and visit our stand. Our program on Saturday (see below) includes meeting of the members, guidance to digitizing of original parish records as well an introduction to archives of the crown bailiffs. The program will be held in Finnish.

FFHA 20 years on April 10, 2024: program

The Finnish Family History Association was founded on April 10, 2004. Due to the anniversary on Wednesday April 10, 2024, a program open to everyone is available online via Zoom.

In the afternoon, we will delve into the history of the association and shed light on what the sources reveal about individual human fate. In the evening, on the FFHA channel, less used source material found in the image database will be highlighted. The latter presentation is in Swedish. The presentations are recorded and can be viewed later in the Video library of the member pages.

Genealogist Maaret Räsänen: When nothing is found: Maria Heikintytär from Askola, who murdered her husband in January 1800, was executed in December of the same year. The presentation tells what the sources reveal about Maria's last year of life.

The previous year's annual fee and reference number have expired, so it is essential to pay with this year's information.
